Driving for VPS is a physically active role. Here's exactly what's expected on the job and the certifications you'll need to stay safe and compliant.

Physical Expectations

What the job demands daily

Lift and carry packages up to 75 lbs individually throughout the shift

Team-lift packages up to 150 lbs with a partner when required

Frequently enter and exit the delivery vehicle — stepping up/down all day

Walk, bend, reach, and carry items in all weather conditions

Maintain stamina for routes lasting 8–10 hours (full-time)

Pass a DOT physical examination to confirm fitness for duty

Safety Certifications

Required before & during employment

Valid standard driver's license (no CDL required) with a clean 3+ year driving record

21 years of age or older

Pass a DOT physical examination prior to employment

Pass a pre-employment drug screen — random testing ongoing

Clear background check and motor vehicle record review

Complete FedEx Ground driver safety and route training (provided by VPS)

Adhere to all FedEx and DOT safety regulations while on duty

Note: VPS Delivery provides all vehicle and route training. You bring the license, a clean record, and the commitment — we handle the rest.
